FOGSL initiated a series of workshops under the theme ‘Leadership for Sustainability through Biodiversity and Birds’. The first workshop was conducted for a group of 20 students from Gurukula Maha Vidyalaya, Kelaniya at Sinharaja World Heritage from 20th– 22nd of April 2018.
The students as well as teachers and parents were able to experience that ‘nature is our lifeline’ and get the message that we need to live in a more sustainable manner. During this workshop the students were given the chance to learn nature theoretically and feel practically through lectures, hiking in the wild, bird watching, plant identification, group activities, meditation etc.
Along with Prof. Kotagama, Aruna Padmaperuma and Chandralal Kumara (who is also the main organizer of the project) provided students valuable knowledge. This initiative become a reality thank to the financial aids of NDB Bank and FOGSL take this opportunity to thank the sponsors.
