The Field Ornithology Group of Sri Lanka was founded with the objectives of bringing together people interested in studying and conserving birds in the country, generating interest in bird biology among laymen and students, and conducting island-wide field studies. The organization aimed to establish links with similar groups worldwide to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration. By pursuing these goals, the group hoped to contribute to the conservation of Sri Lanka’s bird population.
